The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program of VSU Isabel was first implemented in School Year 2003–2004 pursuant to VSU Board Resolution No. 107, series of 2002.

The program subsequently aligned its curriculum with national standards for Information Technology education and currently follows the framework prescribed under CHED Memorandum Order No. 25, series of 2015. From its early years until June 2021, the program had already produced more than 400 graduates.

Following VSU's organizational restructuring, the DIT-I was placed under the newly established Faculty of Computing together with its counterparts at the Main and Alangalang campuses. Instruction and faculty expertise cover software engineering, desktop, web, and mobile application development, database systems, system deployment, support, repair and maintenance, computer networks, robotics, and multimedia production and development.
