Biography
Ronnie Lucero Luriaga is an IT educator and the current Head of Information and Communications Technology Services (ICTS) at Visayas State University (VSU)–Alangalang. His career in IT education began at STI College–Ormoc, where he served first as a Computer Specialist and later as an IT Instructor.
He is currently pursuing his Doctor in Information Technology at De La Salle University (DLSU) in Manila, where he is affiliated with the Center for ICT for Development within the College of Computer Studies. He was a scholar under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Faculty Development Program – Phase II, as noted in CHED's official roster of scholars as of September 2016 under the Information Technology discipline.
Luriaga's research is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach at the intersection of technology, education, and organizational behavior. He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications presented at international conferences, including the International Conference on Computers in Education (ICCE 2024) and the 8th International Conference on E-Commerce, E-Business, and E-Government (ICEEG 2024). His collaborative work, often conducted with scholars such as Dr. Ryan Ebardo of DLSU and Brylle Samson, addresses timely topics including AI adoption in higher education, student perceptions of AI content detection systems, and barriers to hybrid work in developing economies.
His interests involve working with data, building web and mobile applications, and strengthening cybersecurity measures. His career reflects a sustained dedication to advancing IT education and research in the Philippines, progressing from frontline instruction at a private college to active participation in the international academic research community.
