Dr. Jonah Flor O. Maaghop is an Associate Professor III at Visayas State University (VSU), a position she has held since September 2022. With a career at VSU spanning over 18 years—beginning as a part-time instructor in 2006—she has progressed through the academic ranks, demonstrating a deep and sustained commitment to the institution and its students.

She earned her Doctor in Information Technology from Cebu Institute of Technology - University in 2020, supported by a CHED K-12 Transition Program Scholarship. Her doctoral studies built upon a Master of Science in Information Technology from the University of San Carlos (2012), which she pursued under a DOST-ASTHRDP scholarship, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from VSU (2006).

Dr. Maaghop's research is characterized by the innovative application of artificial intelligence and computer vision to solve real-world problems, particularly in agriculture. She has authored and co-authored numerous publications on using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for cacao disease recognition, YOLOv5 for coral lifeform classification, and various techniques for jackfruit disease and damage classification. Her work has been presented at prestigious international conferences, including the IEEE HNICEM series and the International Conference on Methodological Advances in Research. Beyond her core research, she has also contributed to institutional projects as a web developer and is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Philippine eLearning Society (PeLS) and the Computing Society of the Philippines (CSP).
